Toyota Contributes to Help Education Opportunities
Always a supporter of education, Toyota recently made two contributions to education initiatives in order to encourage young Americans to learn techniques that will help them in their future careers.
Firstly, the Toyota USA Foundation donated $300,000 to the Washington Nationals Youth Baseball Academy. The check was awarded prior to the first pitch in last Friday’s game. It’ll help to support the Academy’s programs in STEM, literacy, and character development, which are aimed at Washington, DC’s most underserved community. “The Washington Nationals Youth Baseball Academy’s partnership with the Toyota USA Foundation came at an early and critical point in our development,” explained Tal Alter, Executive Director at the Academy. “The Foundation’s support accelerated our growth in ways that were otherwise not possible. We thank them for their continued support with this generous grant.”
Additionally, Toyota presented a brand new Corolla sedan and a check for $5,000 to winner of the Boys & Girls Club of America’s 2014-2015 National Youth of the Year award. Maryah Sullivan of Orlando, Florida, was named the winner because of her service in the community, dedication to living a healthy lifestyle, leadership, and academic excellence. Maryah commented, “As the 2014-2015 National Youth of the Year, on behalf of Boys & Girls Clubs of America, I want to thank Toyota for its support of this amazing program. I am thrilled to accept the keys to my new Corolla. I can’t wait to get it out on the road.” This marks the fifth year that the automaker has presented the winner of this award with a Corolla.
