Toyota will be running its annual Toyota Safety School in its native country of Japan this year in the hopes of teaching children proper safety procedures and basic traffic laws. Part of the way Toyota plans to do this? Ersatz Pokemon and Power Rangers, of course.

There will be Toyota Safety School events held in two separate areas of Japan: Toyota City and Shizuoka Prefecture. Events in Toyota City will be held at Toyota Kaikan from May 19th to July 16th; the Shizuoka event will take place at the Toyota Safety Education Center “mobilitas” at Fuji Speedway in Oyama-cho, Sunto-gun on May 28th and 29th and October 8th.

The 41st Toyota Safety School in Toyota City will accommodate children from 104 different schools and care facilities in surrounding cities. The 10th Toyota Safety School in “mobilitas” will accommodate students from seven different schools in the Shizuoka Prefecture.

To help keep children entertained at the Toyota Safety School, the presenters will be none other than Safety Man, Safety Lady, and the mascot Kukku—basically, a chick emerging from an egg. Kids will practice crossing the street safely, learn the various sounds of the road, and learn how to identify danger when using streets and walkways.

At the Safety School “mobilitas,” students will be taught similar skills while parents and guardians learn proper safe driving techniques. To date, the “mobilitas” program has been attended by more than a quarter-million kindergarten and nursery school students and nearly 15,000 parents and guardians.
