Sometimes, the New Year starts off in a disappointing fashion, leaving you to wonder just how bad the rest of the year will be. Other times, the beginning of the year brings great news, leaving you optimistic for the things to come. This year, Toyota experienced the latter, with a 13.5% sales increase for January 2015 when compared with January of 2014.

“The year is off to a strong start as the sales momentum we saw in 2014 continued into January,” explained Bill Fay, Toyota division group vice president and general manager. “Highlander, RAV4 and Corolla all set January records.”

Indeed, these vehicles were definite superstars for the Japanese automaker. Both the RAV4 and Highlander set new January records, while the Corolla saw its best January ever. Sales of the Tacoma were up almost 16%, with 11,409 units sold (and that’s even before the release of the new 2016 model). The Camry sold 26,763 units, which was an increase of almost 15%, while the Sienna minivan was up 16% when compared with the previous period.
