The Toyota 86 (also known as the GT 86 and the Scion FR-S) is quite the popular sports coupe in markets across the globe. While Toyota might be killing off its Scion brand, the automaker plans to keep the 86 in its US lineup as the Toyota FR-S. And over in its home country of Japan, Toyota recently introduced the 86 GT Aero Package and Aero Package FT, which are both set to make the sporty coupe funkier than ever before.

The Aero Package builds on the top-of-the-line GT trim, adding a fixed rear wing reminiscent of the 86’s racing versions, side skirts, a front lip spoiler, front intake inserts, and a new rear bumper with a wider diffuser. Additionally, the Aero Package FT includes 18-inch BBS forged aluminum wheels with Bridgestone Ponteza S001 tires, sport brake pads, and Sachs dampers. The Toyota GT86 Aero Package offers seven available color choices, including Orange Metallic, Pure Red, and Azure Blue.

The 86 GT Aero Packages will retain the standard 2.0-liter flat-four, and offer a choice between a six-speed manual or automatic transmission. Prices will range from 3,135,200 yen (approximately $27,445) to 3,672,673 yen (approximately $32,150).

While the sporty packages will only be available in Japan, that won’t stop us crossing our fingers that Toyota might export them to the US once the FR-S leaves Scion’s lineup for Toyota’s.
