Toyota Motor Manufacturing Mississippi of Blue Springs has announced a one-time $100,000 grant to help support local organizations in four focus areas: anti-bullying programs, poverty awareness, LGBT awareness, and reading readiness initiatives. The grant allows organizations which are ineligible for the plant’s standard biannual grant program to gain much-needed funding to support their causes.

“These four funding areas were selected because they are currently underserved by Toyota Mississippi’s grant funding opportunities due to lack of requests,” explained spokeswoman Emily Holland. “The two pillars of the Toyota Way are respect for people and continuous improvement. Our hope is to improve our communities by reaching organizations and the clients they serve that may feel marginalized.”

Organizations can apply for funding by attending a workshop on Wednesday, October 28th, from 11am to 1pm. The workshop will be held at Toyota Mississippi’s Blue Springs plant. Grant requests can then be submitted by December 1st via Toyota’s grant application portal.

Toyota Mississippi has offered grant funding through its quarterly, then biannual program, totaling almost $2 million.
