Toyota and PanasonicEver wished your car could activate your air conditioning on super hot days so that your house was nice and cool when you arrived after a long day at work? Soon, this and many more conveniences will be possible, thanks to a partnership between Toyota and Panasonic. Toyota Motor Corporation and Panasonic Corporation have come together to develop a new service that will link cars with home appliances using the cloud-based Toyota Smart Center.

The Toyota Smart Center already links people with their cars and their homes. Now, thanks to Toyota and Panasonic’s collaboration, drivers will have the ability to control their home appliances from the comfort of their vehicles using a Panasonic home appliance control app. This new development is just one more step towards the inevitable: smart homes designed to make your life easier and to erase everyday worries like whether or not you remembered to turn off the stove.

Interested parties can see the new technology in more detail at the Toyota booth at Smart Community Japan 2014, scheduled to take place June 18-20 at the Tokyo Big Sight. Not in Japan? Don’t worry—we’re sure the technology will be here before you know it!
