Toyota Pledges $1.9 Million to STEM Programs in America

Toyota USA Foundation announced this week that it will be providing $1.9 million in grants to educational programs focused on teaching K-12 students the essentials of the STEM fields.

Over the years, Toyota has been dedicated to raising the caliber of students (and, perhaps, future employees) by incentivizing pursuing interests in the fields of science, technology, engineering, and math.

“We know that the future of our society will be built on increasingly sophisticated technological expertise and innovative problem solving,” said Michael Rouse, Toyota USA Foundation President. “That’s why Toyota USA Foundation is proud to support these nonprofits, who are creating exciting opportunities to train and inspire the next generation of leaders in science, technology, engineering and math.”

Toyota donated grants of varying amounts to 13 different organizations around the United States to help support STEM education. This includes:

  • $100,000 for the Alabama Center for Sustainable Energy
  • $100,000 for Computers for Youth Foundation
  • $150,000 FOR CSUSB Foundation
  • $377,685 over three years for Florida House Institute
  • $50,000 to Girl Scouts of Eastern Massachusetts
  • $199,973 for The Manufacturing Institute
  • $100,000 for MathPower
  • $53,000 for National Action Council for Minorities in Engineering, Inc.
  • $149,999 over two years for New Visions for Public Schools
  • $200,000 over two years for Northwestern University
  • $250,000 over two years for Teach for America, Inc.
  • $50,000 for University of Maryland
  • $200,000 for YMCA of the USA
