At last year’s Detroit Auto Show, Toyota unveiled the redesigned Tacoma truck for the world to see. Fast-forward just over a year, and the 2016 Tacoma has proven to be a top seller for the Japanese automaker. However, Toyota’s not satisfied with its current Tacoma lineup. In fact, Toyota group VP and general manager for Toyota division just revealed the new 2017 Tacoma TRD Pro model at the 2016 Chicago Auto Show.

The truck, which was presented in a new color called Cement, will come with 16-inch TRD black alloy wheels with Goodyear Wrangler All-Terrain Kevlar-reinforced tires, Rigid Industries LED fog lights, projector-beam headlights with black bezels and auto on/off feature, LED daytime running lights, taillights with black bezels, TRD Pro aluminum front skid plate, a TRD Pro badge on the front door with a diamond-pattern knurled finish, and black TRD Pro and 4×4 rear tailgate badging.

Inside, the Tacoma TRD Pro will offer black heated leather front seats, Entune Premium Audio with Integrated Navigation and App Suite, TRD shift knob and floor mats, rear parking assist sonar, blind spot monitoring, rear cross-traffic alert, and more. Additionally, the multi-information display tracks the vehicle’s lean and pitch angles, as well as informing the driver of outside temperature, average fuel economy, and more.

Performance will be enhanced by the addition of FOX 2.5 Internal Bypass shocks tuned by TRD, TRD-tuned front springs with a 1-inch lift, and TRD-tuned rear suspension with progressive-rate off-road leaf spring.

The 2017 Toyota Tacoma TRD Pro will join the Tundra and 4Runner models, and will be offered in Barcelona Red and Super White as well as the aforementioned Cement color. It’ll come with a double cab, and a choice between a six-speed manual or a six-speed automatic transmission. The truck will be built in San Antonio, so you can proudly drive it while screaming “Murica!” and chasing bald eagles.

In closing, Bill Fay hinted at the possibility of a future TRD Pro production version of the RAV4. And on that bombshell, he handed it over to journalists and photographers.
