Toyota Streamlines Metro World Child’s Food Delivery Efforts

Toyota’s humanitarian efforts, which include a recent donation to victims of an Arizona wildfire and the Prius Plug-In MPG Challenge that benefits needy organizations, don’t always involve monetary means.  In the wake of Hurricane Sandy, Toyota collaborated with the Metro World Child Food Bank in New York City to improve their food delivery methods for those in need.

To help, Toyota spent two months observing MWC’s delivery system, taking into account everything from box sizes and warehouse and delivery vehicle stocking processes.  From these observations, Toyota was able to help MWC streamline their methods and enable them to deliver meals 18 times faster, increasing productivity from 25 meals/hour to 450 meals/hour.

Not content to stop there, Toyota also teamed with Supermarche to make the “Meals Per Hour” documentary, which chronicles the partnership between Toyota and Metro World Child.  Additionally, Toyota pledged to donate one meal for every view of the film up to one million.  The video, which can be found on Youtube, has surpassed one million views, enabling Toyota to continue to do what it does just about as well as it manufactures autos: help those and need and renew faith in the human race.
