There are some extremely special people in the world, and those who dedicate their lives to serving their countries are high on that list. Toyota recognizes the sacrifice made by military members, and wants to help Marines and Navy Corpsmen and their families by awarding as many as 300 higher education scholarships to children of these servicemen over the next five years. A $1.35 million contribution from Toyota supports military children via the Marine Corps Scholarship Foundation. This organization is the longest-running provider of need-based scholarships for military families in the nation. Since 2004, Toyota has proudly supported the Marine Corps Scholarship Foundation, and this additional donation pushes its total pledge over the $3 million mark.

Recently, Toyota recognized three scholarship recipients at a reception aboard the USS Midway in San Diego. The three recipients—Andrew Coba of Oceanside, CA; and sisters Elleine Sanchez and Ellysa Aquino of Fallbrook, CA—were honored during the 31st annual National Association of Latino Elected and Appointed Official (NALEO) conference. “It’s an honor to be able to give back to the Marine and Navy families who have sacrificed so much for all of us,” said Michael Rouse, vice president, diversity, philanthropy and community affairs for Toyota Motor Sales (TMS), U.S.A. “Higher education is a valuable and lifelong investment and we’re pleased to be able to help lessen the financial burden for the children of our nation’s military families.” We salute Toyota for supporting our troops and their families, and wish the recipients the best of luck in their educational careers.
