2017 Toyota Tacoma TRD Pro

Following the announcement that the 2017 Toyota 4Runner would get two new TRD off-road trims, Toyota has finally revealed the starting price for the hotly-anticipated Tacoma TRD Pro that was unveiled at the Chicago Auto Show earlier this year.

The Tacoma TRD Pro is meant to be top choice for any customer seeking off-roading action in a midsize pickup truck, and for that Toyota is asking at least $41,700 for the manual or $43,700 for the automatic.

That’s a good $7,000 more than the TRD Off-Road model, but Toyota does its best to give you extra features and capability worth that amount. The first noticeable difference is the wider front and rear tracks, the one-inch lift at the front, and the TRD-exclusive grille and badging. Speaking of badging, the TRD Pro has plenty of style to win you over, like its front and rear lights with black bezels and LED fog lights from RIGID Industries or its exclusive interior accents and TRD cat-back exhaust.

It’s not all looks, though. The Tacoma TRD Pro also comes equipped with TRD-tuned springs and special FOX internal bypass off-road shocks, as well as a quarter-inch-thick aluminum skid plate underneath to protect it from rocks.

Those are just the differences compared to the TRD Off-Road, though. It also gets everything the latter comes standard with, including the same electronic locking rear diff, tow package, hill start assist, active traction control, and four-wheel-drive features as the TRD Off-Road. More importantly, it gets the same Crawl Control system that adjusts acceleration and brakes on the fly to tackle difficult terrain at low speeds, which is especially helpful on automatic models.
