Taylor Swift urges her fans to wear seatbelts

Like her or not, there’s no denying that Taylor Swift is a hit, both in the U.S. and overseas. As the sultry songstress takes her The RED Tour to her fans in Asia, Toyota is using the opportunity to partner with T-Swift and promote road safety in a new campaign. The Be Safety Leaders road safety campaign will help teach young drivers in five Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) countries the importance of safe driving in order to decrease the number of injuries and deaths from traffic accidents in these countries. The countries in question—Indonesia, Malaysia, the Philippines, Thailand, and Vietnam—will see an important message from Taylor Swift on-screen during her concerts scheduled to take place in Jakarta, Manila, Bangkok, Kuala Lumpur, and Singapore in June. Taylor will urge her fans to wear seat belts in the video, as well as on social media and other online platforms, and back up her advice with statistics. Toyota’s research in these countries found that only 25 percent of drivers and passengers wear seat belts, and that airbags work 153 times better when seat belts are worn.

While Taylor Swift fans, will undoubtedly learn of this campaign through following their icon on social media, or from seeing her video on-stage, they will also have the opportunity to visit a Toyota exhibit at each concert venue where they can learn more about this and other safety initiatives from Toyota.

Toyota hopes that the Be Safety Leaders campaign will help prevent injuries and lost lives as drivers adopt seat belt-wearing as a habit. And with Taylor Swift’s help and concern, we can only imagine that the campaign will be successful.
