Toyota UK has announced changes to its GT86 RWD sports coupe (sold stateside as the Scion FR-S) for the 2016 model year, adding some additional options and cutting the price in order to make it more enticing to customers before the seemingly inevitable overhaul next year.

The 2016 Toyota GT86 Primio will be £300 cheaper upfront, thanks in part to the loss of 17-inch alloy wheels in favor of 16-inch alloy wheels. With an available customer offer, the starting price for the Primio will sit at £22,195.

Also benefiting from new wrinkles is the GT86 Aero, which will be offered with 18-inch gloss black wheels—which are also optional for the core model—and will be available in Orange.

The more interesting news stemming from this announcement pertains to a “special edition” GT86 that is scheduled to be revealed sometime later on in the summer.

Prices remain unchanged for the core GT86 at £25,000 with a manual transmission and £25,995 with an automatic transmission. Both the Aero and Giallo models are stagnant at £27,500, and each is offered exclusively with a manual transmission.

This minimalistic refresh will likely serve as a prelude to a new-generation model being revealed in 2016.
