Toyota’s Filipino Sales

The Toyota Vios leads Toyota’s Filipino sales

We hear plenty about Toyota’s increasing sales here in the United States, but as the world’s largest and most successful automaker, there’s plenty of Toyota news from around the globe that we don’t always get to hear. For Toyota’s Filipino sales, things are on the up, with Toyota Motor Philippines (TMP) reporting record sales for both March and April of this year. In fact, TMP reported more than 8,000 units sold for the last two months, with total April sales of 8,102.

Of this 8,102 units sold, 1,982 were TMP’s superstar best-selling Vios. This subcompact car is smaller than Toyota’s Corolla and Camry, and currently holds the title of being the best-selling vehicle in the Philippines. But Toyota’s rockstar status doesn’t end there; the Japanese automaker has the best-selling vehicles in numerous segments in the Philippines, including the Hilux truck, the mini hatchback Wigo, and the Fortuner mid-size SUV.

TMP’s Filipino growth doesn’t just apply to the past couple of months. When comparing the first four months of 2014 to the same period of 2013, TMP’s sales are up a whopping 32%. So far this year, Toyota’s Filipino sales are close to 31,000, cementing Toyota’s place as the world’s favorite automaker.
