Trademark Application Filed for “Chevrolet Bolt”

The News Wheel just got wind that General Motors is at it again with its crazy—and confusing—trademark applications. Most recently, we caught the automaker filing for the trademark “Sierra Elevation,” which, in our opinion, hints at a possible off-road variant of the Sierra to compete with the Ford Raptor. Now the Detroit automaker has filed two more applications, this time for “Bolt” and “Chevrolet Bolt.”

The trademark applications were filed on August 5 of this year in the goods and services category as “motor land vehicles, namely automobiles.”

Obviously, Bolt and Chevrolet Bolt are very similar to Volt and Chevrolet Volt, Chevy’s extended-range electric vehicle. That leads us to wonder if the Bolt could be some kind of green vehicle in the works, or perhaps just the name to be used on a concept unveiled at an upcoming auto show.
