“Trading One Uniform for Another” Scholarship Program Opens for Second Year
Ford’s Quick Lane Tire & Auto Center has announced that it will lend its support to the “Trading One Uniform for Another” scholarship program for a second year in a row. The program, which was developed via collaboration between Quick Lane and Disabled American Veterans (DAV), seeks to provide financial empowerment for US military veterans looking to transition into roles in the fields of automotive maintenance and repair.

“This scholarship has allowed me to concentrate on my studies more than in the past. I don’t have to worry about getting a job to pay for the rest of my schooling, which takes off some of the stress,” said veteran Casey Marvicka, who was one of five “Trading One Uniform for Another” scholarship winners from the program’s inaugural year. Marvicka used the scholarship to enroll at the University of Nebraska at Lincoln.
This year, Quick Lane will award five veterans with scholarships totaling $10,000 toward their tuition, books, or fees at any community college, university, or trade or vocational school so long as they are pursuing certification in an accredited automotive mechanics program.
“The entire Quick Lane Tire and Auto Center team, which includes over 800 independent Quick Lane operators, is again proud to demonstrate its support for our nation’s veterans in finding meaningful employment.” said Frederiek Toney, president, Global Ford Customer Service Division. “We are honored to stand beside the DAV in awarding these scholarships to our U.S. military veterans, thanking them for their service, and congratulating them on the pursuit of a career in automotive service and maintenance.”
Veterans can be nominated by submitting an essay at QLTradingOne.com now through December 11th. The five winners will be announced at the Quick Lane Bowl, which takes place on December 26th at Ford Field in Detroit.
