2014 Transit Connect Most Popular in Ford Mobility Motoring Reimbursement Program
Ford has announced that customers participating in the Ford Mobility Motoring Reimbursement Program choose the Transit Connect more than any other vehicle. This popularity is being chalked up to a number of unique and passenger-friendly features such as low interior floor for better loading, taller rear door clearance, and wider-opening front driver and passenger doors.
The Transit Connect finds itself at the top of the list once again after being the most popular vehicle through the Ford Mobility Motoring Reimbursement Program for both 2012 and 2013.
The program was originally developed by Ford in 1991 and coincided with the passage of the Americans with Disabilities Act. Ford Mobility Motoring provides up to an up-to-$1,000 reimbursement for the addition of adaptive equipment to any new Ford vehicle. Since 1992, Ford has processed and fulfilled more than 230,000 claims.
The 2014 Transit Connect Wagon boasts an MSRP of $24,525, and possible upfitting cost for an easy access seat and a scooter/chair lift can cost up to $12,500 (per Gresham Driving Aids).
“The equipment being installed depends upon the needs of the customers,” said William Dillon, president of Gresham Driving Aids. “Some clients only need a lift for a power chair or scooter, while others may need an actual chair for the vehicle that assists them in entering and exiting the vehicle.”
The standard amenities of the Transit Connect Wagon alone make it an ideal choice for customers with limited mobility; the potential addition of independent living-enabling equipment makes it the most obvious choice on the market, according to Ford Mobility Motoring Reimbursement Project Manager Faye Shanor.
