Ford on Friday revealed that brand sales in June were up 6.4% year-over-year at a total of 231,300 vehicles delivered, bringing first-half sales for all Ford-branded vehicles to a total of 1,299,751 units in the United States (up 4.3%). That figure gives Ford its best first six month sales figure since 2006.

Overall, Ford’s June sales were up 6.4% year-over-year, totaling 240,109 vehicles. Through six months, total sales are up 4.6% at a total of 1,353,048 vehicles delivered in the United States. Sales of SUVs and trucks were up 7.3% and 24.2% in June, respectively; through the first half, truck and van sales are up 12.5% at a total of 531,500 units, while SUV sales are up 9.8% at a total of 430,275 units.

“Strong customer demand has helped us continue growing our truck leadership position, further widening the gap with our nearest competitor versus last year,” said Mark LaNeve, Ford vice president, U.S. Marketing, Sales and Service. “Consumer demand for Ford SUVs also continues to surge to all-time highs, allowing us to introduce new levels of capability, versatility and technology to a whole new generation of SUV fans.”

Ford’s F-Series saw massive gains in June, coming up just short of 71,000 units with a 28.6% year-over-year increase. Through June, sales of F-Series trucks total 395,244 units, up 10.7%. Sales of Ford vans—including the E-Series, Transit, and Transit Connect—were up by a combined 14% with a total of 24,404 units delivered in June, good for Ford’s best monthly tally for vans since 1978.

SUV sales in June were the highest they have been in 15 years, led by the all-new Escape contributing to a 20.2% year-over-year increase for the namebadge. Sales of the Expedition were also up 86.2%.

Ford car sales were down 12.8% in June, with only the Fusion and Police Interceptor Utility seeing year-over-year increases. To date, sales of Ford cars are down 9.1%.
