In 2004, the Cadillac Racing team was founded and has gone on to win five World Challenge Manufacturer Championships in the years since. The team has also collected 31 wins and 24 pole positions, but despite that success, a few big changes were made for the 2017 season to help keep the team competing at the highest level.

While both Johnny O’Connell and Michael Cooper are returning to drive the No. 3 and No. 8 Cadillac ATS-V.R coupes, they will be joined by Ricky and Jordan Taylor, who recently made news for driving the Cadillac DPi-V.R prototype to victory at the 24 Hours of Daytona, along with fellow drivers Max Angelelli and four-time NASCAR champion Jeff Gordon. The Taylor brothers will be competing in the SprintX rounds, which begin on April 28th at Virginia International Raceway.

“I am extremely excited to share the ATS-V.R with the guys,” said Ricky Taylor. “I have always been a huge fan of the ATS-V.R program and of Johnny and Michael, so getting a chance to contribute to the team and hopefully another championship is a great opportunity.”

Another big change for the Cadillac Racing team comes on the exterior of Cooper’s Cadillac racecar. If you remember, last year his car had a monotonous black paint job, but this year it will feature a new Vector Blue livery, bringing a bit more excitement to his ATS-V.R coupe. Cooper won two races last year in the No. 8 Cadillac. Those wins came at Mid-Ohio and Barber Motorsport Park.

“The championship-winning Cadillac ATS-V.R Coupe has established itself as a clear winner in the Pirelli World Challenge series,” said Global Director of Product Strategy for Cadillac Rich Brekus. “Competing with and beating other top brands demonstrates and confirms the Cadillac V-Performance abilities on race tracks across North America.”

The 2017 Pirelli World Challenge (PWC) GT season kicks off on March 12th at the Cadillac Grand Prix of St. Petersburg.
