Have you ever noticed that there’s a point when out on the town that a drunken person basically transforms into a giant, stubborn toddler?

Baby Drinking

Yeah, Uber has, too.

That’s why the transportation services giant has decided to test something new to pacify their drunken passengers—the childhood game “Bop It!”

Bop It! Toy

After a rash of crimes where drunken Uber users have lashed out at their drivers—including an incident where a Taco Bell executive drunkenly beat the man driving him home one night—Uber has decided to take matters into its own hands and help keep its drivers safer.

Uber has begun testing the use of “Bop It!” in North Carolina, sticking the famous children’s toy in the back of the driver’s seat. The service believes that the toy, which became extremely popular in the 1990s, will give drivers some peace.

According to Uber’s chief security officer, “An intoxicated rider who is engaged in something interesting is less likely to be irritable and aiming aggression at the driver.”

Like I said before. Drunken people = giant toddlers.

It’s likely that these toys won’t be used in all Uber cars—can you imagine the profit the “Bop It!” company would make if they were?—but Uber is currently thinking of other ways to help passengers behave better. In fact, they’ve already fitted many of their cars with mirrors to help moderate behavior. Apparently, when passengers catch their own reflection, they behave better. Who knew?
