UPDATE: Nobody Hurt In Fire That Destroyed Two NASCAR Stock Cars
A trailer carrying two NASCAR Chevy SS racecars, owned by HScott Motorsports, caught fire while traveling on Interstate 20 just one day ago. Nobody was hurt in the blaze, but the racing team announced via its Facebook page that both stock cars were destroyed in the fire.

The trailer was headed to Texas Motor Speedway in advance of Sunday’s NASCAR Sprint Cup Series race. Michael Dennis Smith, who was driving the trailer, said he and passengers stopped and unhitched the trailer when they became aware of the fire.

The fire forced authorities to shut down the Westbound side of the highway, but they reopened it soon after they gained control of the situation.
Neither racecar was reportedly carrying any fuel at the time, but the trailer did contain a generator that was filled with gasoline.

HScott Motorsports has assured team Chevy fans that both of his drivers, Justin Allgaier and Michael Annett, will still be participating in this weekend’s events. The racecars destroyed in the blaze were Annett’s primary and backup car, so team mechanics have worked to turn Allgaier’s backup car into the vehicle that Annett will use at Texas.

Sunday’s Sprint Cup race at Texas is scheduled to begin at 2 pm and will be broadcast by NBC.
