USAA: F-150 Best-Selling Vehicle Among US Military
For nearly four decades, Ford’s F-Series has been the preferred choice of not just American truck shoppers, but all American vehicle shoppers in general. Given that the F-Series and its crowing jewel—the F-150—are readily-identifiable symbols of the American automotive industry, and that Ford is a quintessential American brand through and through, it comes as little surprise that a study conducted by the United Services Automobile Association found that the F-150 is the best-selling vehicle among active and former members of the United States military.
“You go way, way back to Ford being the manufacturer that first built a vehicle for ‘every man,’ so to speak, a vehicle that everyone can afford, right?” says Eric Lyman, vice president for industry insights, TrueCar®.
“That tends to resonate with the American public. I clearly see that in its approach with the F-Series.”

According to the results of USAA’s study, the F-150 was the top-selling vehicle in 2014 among members of the Air Force, Army, Coast Guard, Marine Corps, and Navy. Each list varied with vehicles like the Honda Accord, Civic, and CR-V; Toyota Camry and Tacoma; Chevy Silverado, Jeep Wrangler, and Nissan Altima all making top-five appearances across the five branches. Only the F-150 appeared in the same spot on each list.
Ford also scored with the Fusion, which placed seventh for Marine Corps and Army, eighth for Air Force, and ninth for Navy.
