Vauxhall Cleans Up at 2015 Scottish Car of the Year Awards
Vauxhall Astra wins Scottish Car of the Year

The new Vauxhall Astra hatchback took home the title of 2015 Scottish Car of the Year last month during the Association of Scottish Motoring Writers’ annual Edinburgh awards ceremony. Vauxhall’s sporty-yet-practical hatchback also took home the title of Eco and Family Car of the year, and the VIVA was named the best compact car.
“We’re extremely proud that the Astra is the 2015 Scottish Car of the Year,” said Mark Adams, Vauxhall/Opel’s Vice President, Design, who accepted the award on behalf of Vauxhall. “The Scots have made Vauxhall their most popular car manufacturer over the last seven years, so we’re glad that we’ve been able to repay their loyalty by delivering a car that will appeal in so many ways.”
The Astra earned the Eco award for its 1.6-liter CDTi Whisper Diesel engine, which only generates 99 g/km of CO2 and returns 76.3 mpg combined thanks in part to the Astra’s 200 kg weight-cut. Because of its utility and ample cabin space, the Astra was also named the year’s best family car.
Vauxhall VIVA
The Vauxhall VIVA earned the award for compact cars for its low starting price, smart performance, and fun-loving look.
