Retiring NASCAR driver Jeff Gordon gives the thumbs up in a new Chevrolet ad

If you’ve been inconsolable ever since you heard the news that NASCAR legend Jeff Gordon would be retiring at the end of this season, you may be too heartbroken to watch this bittersweet video, which shows Gordon’s #24 Chevrolet SS being painted—sob—for the last time ever.

Wipe your eyes, blow your nose, and take a look, if you can:

No, it’s not the iconic red-and-blue paint job that Gordon is most associated with (to see that, you’ll have to watch John Force race his tribute Funny Car). However, Hendrick’s paint specialists did a good job incorporating the classic flames into Gordon’s current silver 3M scheme.

And while seeing this video may make you want to listen to “It’s So Hard to Say Goodbye to Yesterday” by Boyz II Men, Gordon himself is remaining cheerful about his final race.

“During that race and after that race it is only going to be a celebration,” Gordon said. “It has been an amazing career. I just never dreamed in a million years that it would have gone the way that it has and while I’m just stepping out of it there will definitely be tears—they will all be tears of joy looking ahead at the future.”

You can see this paint job (and Gordon’s tears) on November 22nd during the 2015 NASCAR Sprint Cup Season finale at Homestead-Miami Speedway. Hopefully they can both be spotted in Victory Lane.
