While Toyota may have won the overall “Best Value in America” award this year, Vincentric was also sure to honor the sister Korean car companies with recognition as well. In fact, Vincentric named the 2014 Veloster and the 2014 Forte Koup “Best Value in America” winners in the subcompact segment and compact coupe segment, respectively.

To earn this recognition, the Hyundai Veloster took on and defeated the likes of the Ford Fiesta, the Nissan JUKE, and the Kia Forte. The Kia Forte Koup, however, fared well against a worthy adversary, the Honda Civic Coupe.

“The all-new 2014 Forte Koup being named ‘Best Value in America’ in the Compact Coupe category by Vincentric emphasizes Kia’s commitment to advancing value to new levels of sophistication,” explained Michael Sprague, executive vice president of sales and marketing, Kia Motors America. “Aside from offering a sporty driving experience, world-class design and cutting-edge technology, our award-winning two-door has also proven itself to be an affordable and sensible choice within its competitive set.”

Meanwhile, Scott Margason, director, Product Planning, Hyundai Motor America, boasted about the Veloster: “The Veloster was engineered to offer our customers great value without sacrificing functionality or driver engagement, two criteria that are fundamental to the subcompact car segment. This accolade acknowledges the Veloster as a well-rounded vehicle, providing versatility and fun-to-drive characteristics in an efficient, low-cost package.”

To determine the “Best Value in America” winners, Vincentric used eight different cost factors to determine each vehicle’s cost-of-ownership across all 50 states and the District of Columbia. These cost factors included repairs, opportunity cost, maintenance, insurance, fuel, financing, fees and taxes, and depreciation.

The Forte Koup and the Veloster are both available at Kia and Hyundai dealerships now.
