Due to its expansive storage space, outstanding value, roomy interior, and smooth driving performance, the Volkswagen Atlas has gained bragging rights as the “2018 Best New Midsize SUV” from Good Housekeeping magazine.

More than 3,000 vehicles were evaluated based on their safety, value, interior design, smoothness, comfort, handling, reliability, and onboard technology in Good Housekeeping magazine’s quest to determine the best. Aided by Car and Driver magazine experts, the Good Housekeeping Institute (GHI) Lab engineers determined that the 2018 Volkswagen Atlas as the top pick in its segment.

“The Atlas gives you the best of both worlds — an effortless drive and an interior spacious enough for a carload of kids and adults,” said Good Housekeeping. “It has much better storage than others in the category — tons of space in the center console and third row, and more with the seats folded down. We were also wowed by its solid braking and handling around corners.”

Revealed last spring, the 2018 Volkswagen Atlas, the automaker’s first SUV equipped with three rows of seating, is available in five trims: S, SE, SE with Technology, SEL, and SEL Premium. All trims come with standard front-wheel drive (FWD) and available 4MOTION® all-wheel drive (AWD). Choose from the 2.0-liter turbocharged four-cylinder engine or the 3.6-liter V6 engine. The V6 is mated to an eight-speed automatic transmission with Tiptronic® and Sport Mode, and this powertrain generates 276 horsepower and 266 lb-ft of torque.

“We are extremely proud that Good Housekeeping magazine has honored the Atlas with this award,” said Derrick Hatami, Executive Vice President of Sales and Marketing for Volkswagen of America, Inc. “The Atlas packs incredible value. Its combination of design, space, connectivity, and handling represents the best of what Volkswagen has to offer.”
