Hundreds of Volkswagen Group of America employees recently volunteered with Generosity Feeds as part of the 2018 VWGoA Get Involved Summer of Service. Volunteers packed over 35,000 meals to help support local schools and food pantries in communities across the country. Locations included Belmont, California; Fort Worth, Texas; Herndon, Virginia; Hillsboro, Oregon; Libertyville, Illinois; and Maricopa, Arizona.

Last year, the corporate headquarters in Herndon, Virginia, hosted a Generosity Feeds meal-packing event and packed 5,000 meals. This year, the event expanded to multiple locations, which resulted in more than seven times that amount packed. The meals would be distributed to children in need, supporting families in the immediate area for a rewarding local impact.

“More than 13 million children in America struggle with hunger. That’s one in every six. We are so grateful to our friends at Volkswagen for partnering with us in this nationwide effort,” said Ron Klabunde, Founder and CEO of Generosity Feeds. “Employees from these six sites share an incredible amount of talent and heart. Together, they’ll make a significant, positive difference in every community they touch this summer.”

The Get Involved Summer of Service is a four-month-long annual initiative designed to encourage VWGoA employees to volunteer with organizations in their community. Volkswagen also promotes volunteerism once the summer ends and allows for many opportunities to get involved year-round, including a volunteer day where employees receive a paid day off to serve in their community.
