Volkswagen January 2015 Sales Figures Revealed
Volkswagen of America sold 23,504 total units last month, representing a .04% sales bump compared to January 2014. That infinitesimal increase was fueled primarily by the Jetta family and the acclaimed Golf family, with the all-new Golf delivering 2,040 units for the month (a 143% increase over January 2014, the Golf GTI delivering 1,978 units (129% increase).
Add in the e-Golf’s 181 units sold, and all combined, the Volkwagen Golf family sold 4,199 units.
Unfortunately for the German automaker, every single non-Golf vehicle in the Volkswagen lineup saw a decrease in sales compared to January 2014 (save for the Passat, which had a whopping 1.1% sales increase). Even the Jetta sedan, the brand’s best-seller, saw its sales dip a little.
Still, VW is optimistic for the future: “We are encouraged by the continued success of the Golf family, in fact it was one of the best months on record for Golf family sales. We look forward to the new additions of the much anticipated Golf R and Golf SportWagen later this quarter,” said Mark McNabb, chief operating officer, Volkswagen of America.
