Through the first seven months of 2014, Volkswagen Passenger Cars delivered 3.56 million vehicles around the world, marking a year-to-date increase of 3.8 percent over deliveries through July 2013. Despite a sales decline in the Americas during that period, growth in Europe and China has more than picked up the slack.

Deliveries were up 4 percent in July with 491,600 units shipped to customers around the globe.

“We are pleased with the way the Volkswagen Passenger Cars brand has started the second half of the year,” said Christian Klingler, Board Member for Sales and Marketing for the Volkswagen Group and the Volkswagen Passenger Cars brand. “The Asia-Pacific region tops the delivery table, followed by Western Europe. But we are still facing challenging market developments in some sales regions”

Between January and July, approximately 1 million Volkswagen passenger cars were delivered to customers in Europe, marking a 2.9 percent jump. More than half of those (517,200 units, to be precise) were sold in Western Europe (excluding Germany), up 5.0 percent. Germany itself accounted for 340,700 deliveries in the 7 month period and a 3.7 percent increase.

Central and Eastern Europe accounted for 146,300 vehicles, and Russia accounted for the remaining 76,400 units.

The biggest market by far was the Asia-Pacific region, which was up 16.2 percent with 1.72 million units delivered in the first seven months. China, naturally, comprised a good chunk of that figure with 1.6 million units (a 17.9 percent year-to-date increase).

Volkswagen Passenger Cars deliveries in North America totaled 333,400, an 8 percent decrease. Sales in the United States were down 13.6 percent with 209,700 units delivered overall.
