Volvo has released a new video that teases the upcoming V90 Cross Country

Volvo looks to improve upon the V70 XC with the upcoming release of its new V90 Cross Country

The 2016 Paris Motor Show will be playing host to a number of exciting new automotive debuts when it opens its doors to the public on October 1st.

Mercedes-Benz has already announced it will be showcasing an AMG version of its GLC coupe at the event. That announcement was quickly followed by the revelation that the 2018 Porsche Panamera 4 E-Hybrid will make its public debut in Paris.

Not to be outdone, fellow European automaker Volvo has recently made it known that while it will not be bringing a new model to the Paris Motor Show, it will debut its V90 Cross Country at the Los Angeles Auto Show instead. Also, while Mercedes-Benz and Porsche both released official images of its respective new vehicles via the internet; Volvo left a little something to the imagination by only releasing a teaser video that tells the story of its popular Cross County models.

Wait!

Volvo didn’t just release a boring press release with stats about horsepower, torque, and fuel economy ratings?

Well, the answer is an emphatic no. The video simply tells the story of how Volvo created the Cross Country vehicles to be “capable alternatives to the SUV and front-wheel drive cars.” Furthermore, all the cars shown in the teaser video are older models, including the first-generation V70 XC from 1997.

With that said, little else is known about the upcoming V90 Cross Country other than the fact that it was designed to manage the extreme environments which can be found in the mountains of Sweden, which not so coincidentally happens to be the country where you can find Volvo’s headquarters.

“Cross Country has become the true expression of a Volvo car in many peoples’ eyes,” said President & CEO of Volvo Car Group Håkan Samuelsson. “It was a winning concept from the start, perfect for the tough climate and road conditions that we experience in Sweden.”

Rumors suggest the V90 Cross Country will become available in the United States in 2017, but until then, Volvo fans are welcome to view the Cross Country teaser video that can be found below.
