Volvo’s surge in sales was highlighted by a successful October in the United States, Europe, and China.

Sales of Volvo cars were up by 87% in the United States for a total of 7,422 units sold. That figure made the US Volvo’s highest selling territory. The best-selling Volvo model in the United States was the XC90.

The 2016 Volvo XC90 features a 2.0-liter supercharged and turbocharged petrol engine, as well as an additional electric motor, which work together to produce 316 horsepower and 295 lb-ft of torque. The XC90 also comes available with fontal-collision warning, antilock brakes, and a rearview camera.

Sales for Volvo in Europe were up 5.2% for a total of 24,468 units sold.

In China, Volvo sales were up 2% for a total of 7,066 units sold. That’s particularly good news for Volvo considering the 5.7% sales decrease it experienced in China during September.

With 12,645 vehicles sold worldwide, the XC60 luxury crossover was Volvo’s best-selling vehicle overall in October.

The 2016 Volvo XC60 was awarded with a five-star safety rating from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.

In total, Volvo sold 45,801 vehicles during the month of October.
