Ford is looking to give customers the opportunity to design its newest billboards as part of a new campaign. Ford’s By Design car ad campaign offers its fans the chance to design artwork that will appear on digital billboards in such major US markets as Times Square and the San Francisco Bay Bridge.

The key to the campaign is to evoke a natural aesthetic indicative of consumer enthusiasm for the Ford brand.

“We wanted consumers to experience and be a part of our brand in a unique way,” said Lisa Schoder, Ford digital marketing manager. “By showcasing what our consumers’ vehicles mean to them, we have made their individual expressions the driving message of our campaign.”

Interested consumers can visit FordByDesign.com and choose their choice of location in New York City, San Francisco, Los Angeles, Miami, Chicago, and Washington, DC. They can then take their pick from a number of vehicles: Ford Mustang GT, Shelby GT350 Mustang, Shelby GT350R Mustang, Fusion, Fusion Energi, Fiesta ST, Focus, Focus ST, and Focus RS. Then, they choose from a chalk, smoke, or fractal background design.

Finally, you decide where you want your patterns to go, fill out a form, and submit. Thereafter, the art will go live on that city’s billboard alongside your name and hometown. The designer will receive a “billboard selfie” of what their art looks like on a billboard in the chosen location for sharing on social media.
