The 2017 Silverado HD displayed its power by towing a large flag around Texas Motor Speedway

It’s been an unbearably noisy election year, and it’s only getting more heated as we approach the finish line, so expect to see lots of flag-waving between now and Election Day on November 8th. However, it’s doubtful that either party will put on a display of patriotism that is this, well, yuge.

The new 2017 Chevy Silverado HD has a redesigned 6.6-liter turbo-diesel V8 engine that yields a whopping 445 horsepower and 910 lb-ft of torque. And in order to put all of that muscle towards furthering the cause of freedom, justice, and the American way, the bowtie brand used it to set a Guinness World Record at Texas Motor Speedway for the World’s Largest Flag Pulled by a Moving Vehicle.

We reported on this story earlier, but at the time, didn’t have the video of the flag pull itself. And man, this is some video worth watching.

Check it out:

God bless America.

GM was aided in its quest for Guinness greatness by 20 heroes that helped launch and lower the flag, making sure that it did not touch the ground at any point in the process. Chevy towed the 3,186-square-foot American flag around the Texas Motor Speedway track for a total of four laps.

Afterwards, the American automaker paid tribute to its host stadium by doing the same with a giant Texas state flag.

They say “everything’s bigger in Texas,” and now the folks at Guinness have officially certified that to be the case.
