Nissan X-Trail 4DogsTraveling with dogs can be a ruff business, if you pardon the pun. Some of our cars simply aren’t pet friendly, and while it might be easy to just lift Fido into the back seat of a car, our canine companions actually need appropriate safety equipment, like harnesses, to help keep them safe if a collision were to occur. In the United Kingdom, Nissan has unveiled the Nissan X-Trail 4Dogs concept, and we are pretty jealous of the comfort these pooches are riding in.

According to the automaker, almost every dog owner has said that they would be open to buying a new vehicle that is a better fit for their dogs. This X-Trail concept was built to be the vehicle that makes taking your best friend along for the ride both safe and easy. The cargo area has been transformed into the perfect dog cabin, with everything to keep them happy on the road. Owners will be happy to know that the Nissan X-Trail 4Dogs concept has a shower that pulls out to clean off muddy pets, and a system to warm and dry dogs once they are seated inside.

The luggage compartment has a comfortable bed, smart dog treat dispenser, and no-spill water bowl. A clip-on harness ensures that the dogs are safely fastened into the car in the case of a collision. Drivers can even monitor their pets with the “Dog-Cam” that sends video to the Nissan’s Infotainment system. If a dog starts to panic, instead of yelling into the back of the Nissan X-Trail 4Dogs concept, drivers can use the audio link to soothe their worries away.

Besides being British, this car is also a concept. Even if the Nissan X-Trail 4Dogs concept doesn’t make it into production, we hope that some of its features could make it into future Nissan models.
