GM picked up the award for “Overall Loyalty to Manufacturer” for the 2016 model year

Today GM announced that William F. Bertagni has been appointed president of the Pan Asia Technical Automotive Center (PATAC), as well as GM China vice president of Vehicle Engineering, effective August 1, 2017.

Currently, Bertagni is serving as GM Europe vice president of Vehicle Engineering, and also a member of the Management Board of Adam Opel GmbH. His new promotion will see him succeed Dr. Tobias Sünner, who will repatriate to Europe.

“William brings to PATAC a strong background in automotive engineering in Europe, the Americas and Korea,” said GM Executive Vice President and President of GM China Matt Tsien. “His global expertise will benefit PATAC, which is celebrating its 20th anniversary this year and carrying out important projects for SAIC-GM and its shareholders.”

Bertagni began his GM career with GM do Brasil in 1984, and over the last three decades, he has held key positions including director of the GM do Brasil Engineering Center, vice president of GM Korea, and GM South America vice president of Product Engineering.

Bertagni assumed his current position with the company in 2016, overseeing all product-related activities executed by the GM Europe Engineering Center for global markets. In that role, he helped with the successful rollout of Opel’s all-new Insignia, all-new Crossland X, new Zafira, new Mokka X, and Ampera-e.

“We appreciate the work that Tobias has done in China for the past two years,” said Tsien. “Under his leadership, PATAC implemented several important product programs for SAIC-GM. It is in a strong position for sustainable growth.”
