Much like Edward Cullen, Twilight just won’t die. Even after the books and movie adaptations have long been released, it keeps haunting us. But this time, it’s back to support an admirable cause, and even if you’re not a fan of the franchise, you can still get something out of it.
As the main automotive sponsor of the Twilight series, Volvo Cars North America is reviving its stake in the franchise in support of The Storytellers: New Voices Of The Twilight Saga. Part of this initiative is the Drive to Dream sweepstakes, with the grand prize being a brand new 2015 Volvo XC60 Crossover–including freight and handling–with an approximate retail value of $41,205.
Drive to Dream, Support Female Empowerment, Win a Volvo XC60
The Storytellers: New Voices Of The Twilight Saga is a campaign to provide opportunities for female voices to be heard in the entertainment industry. The initiative asks women young and old to share their creative ideas in order to expand the world of Twilight.
Lionsgate, Tongal, Facebook, Volvo Cars, Women in Film, and Stephenie Meyer have selected six female filmmakers to direct short films based on characters from the Twilight universe. The winning films will be chosen by a panel and debut on Facebook this year. Entrants submitted screenplay outlines, scripts, and director pitches throughout the contest, which is now in its final phase of short film production.
For the rest of us, Volvo is giving us the chance to win a 2015 Volvo XC60 Crossover, as well as other prizes each month: Immortal Twilight perfume, a Barbie “The Twilight Sage” collector doll, the complete collection of books, Twilight Forever: The Complete Box Set, Soundsticks wireless home speakers, and SOHO wireless headphones.
The sweepstakes began on January 30th and will conclude on July 22nd.
