Ghana vs. USAIt’s the day you’ve all been pretending that you’ve been waiting for in an effort to seem more cultured: the United States Men’s National Team will charge into Estádio das Dunas, Natal to take on Ghana in their first match in Group G. Sure, it’s Monday, but that doesn’t mean you won’t head out to the pub with your friends so that you can drink copiously and pretend to know thing one about a game that you’re probably identifying by the wrong name. You will pay no mind to the fact that Ghana has beaten the US in not one but two consecutive World Cups, and that coach Jurgen Klinsmann doesn’t even think the United States has a chance in blue hell to win the whole thing, because 1) beer 2) America 3) sports 4) ‘MURICA 5) bald eagles.

The chances that Ghana will win tonight are not nearly as bad as you might think, particularly if the only reason you think the United States will win is because 1) we’re the United States and 2) we’re playing Ghana. For our World Cup of Cars: Ghana vs. USA, you might be thinking we’re going to go with the F-150, which is not only the most popular vehicle in America, but arguably the perfect embodiment of all that is ‘MURICA.

Or maybe it’s these guys. So MURICA up in here!

But no. We’re going to go in a different direction here. We’re going to pick a car that is insanely popular and quite reliable, but one that is likely to end up disappointing you if you’re looking for something even remotely exciting. We’re going with a car that is somewhat diverse, omnipresent, not without its share of problems, and not nearly as great as people think it is. We’re going with the Toyota Camry.

YAAAAAAWWWN

And you know what? We took a look at www.Tonaton.com, the largest new and used vehicle marketplace in Ghana, and here’s what we determined: folks in Ghana really love the Camry. It really warms your heart to know that countries all over the world can come together in their love of boring midsize sedans.

So, yeah, it looks like we might have our first draw in the World Cup of Cars. Let’s hope that the USMNT can achieve a draw—or better—in tonight’s matchup, which you can watch at 6pm EST on ESPN. Of course, if they don’t make it out of their group, then most of us can go back to worrying about where LeBron James is going to end up playing next season.
