South Korea vs. Belgium

Today, Group H’s highest ranking team, Belgium, take on the lowest-ranking, South Korea. No matter the outcome of today’s game, Belgium will be heading through to the next round. South Korea, however, is facing elimination unless it can somehow, magically, beat the Red Devils on the pitch later on this afternoon. That’s pretty unlikely, so we’ll probably be saying a sad “goodbye” to South Korea after today’s match. For now, however, they still have a chance to defeat the Belgians in the World Cup of Cars: South Korea vs. Belgium.

South Korea vs. Belgium: Hyundai Equus

Representing South Korea, we have the Hyundai Equus. The oddly-named car is one of the Korean automaker’s luxury offerings, and it’s an impressive one at that. With an available 429-horsepower V8 engine, this sedan isn’t messing around when it comes to power. It might have a hefty MSRP for a Hyundai ($68,500), but the Equus packs in an awful lot of awesome for your money.

The sedan boasts 126 cubic feet of interior space, making it among the largest in its class. Standard features include heated and cooled front seats, a heated steering wheel, blind spot detection, and rear cross-traffic alert. But more importantly, the Hyundai Equus is pretty sweet to look at, so it definitely gets our seal of approval.

South Korea vs. Belgium: Audi A1 (Belgium)

South Korea vs. Belgium: Audi A1

In retaliation, Belgium is sending out the Audi A1. The German-designed, Belgian-built car isn’t as large or impressive as the Hyundai Equus, but we think it’s a worthy contender. The A1 is a relatively new model, with sales starting back in 2010, and it’s made exclusively at the Audi Brussels plant in the country’s capital.

Originally, the compact A1 was offered as a three-door model only, but just a year after launch Audi introduced a five-door model, called Sportback. The Audi A1 comes with an automatic start/stop function, manually retractable 6.5-inch display screen, Zeitgeist cloth upholstery, and heated side mirrors. Not a bad list for a compact entry-level car.

While the Audi is an impressive vehicle, we have to give the edge to the Hyundai Equus and South Korea. Sometimes, you just need that extra bit of luxury to make your commute that much less dreadful.
