2013 Toyota 4Runner overview

What’s New for the 2013 Toyota 4Runner?

The 2013 Toyota 4Runner has no significant changes from the previous model.

2013 Toyota 4Runner Exterior

Drivers looking for a large vehicle with a rugged presence, both on- and off-road, will appreciate the design and feel of the 2013 Toyota 4Runner. Its long roofline, upright windshield, and boxy appearance will be familiar to 4Runner fans, as the basic shape and style of the vehicle carry through the years. A single-piece liftgate adorns the 4Runner’s rear end, making it easy to load and unload your cargo, while the power rear opening and closing window remains a unique feature in this segment.

2013 Toyota 4Runner Performance

Each 2013 Toyota 4Runner is equipped with a 4.0-liter V6 engine that pumps out an impressive 270 horsepower and 278 pound-feet of torque, which is sent to the 4Runner’s rear wheels via a five-speed automatic transmission. The SR5 model comes with an optional part-time low-range-equipped four-wheel drive system, and the Limited trim has the option of full-time four-wheel drive. All 2013 Toyota 4Runner models can tow up to 5,000 when properly equipped.

2013 Toyota 4Runner Efficiency

Efficiency isn’t exactly at the top of the list for the 2013 Toyota 4Runner, which isn’t surprising for a full-size SUV. The V6 motor comes in at an EPA-estimated 17 mpg city, 23 mpg highway, and 19 mpg combined. When four-wheel drive is added to the equation, those fuel economy ratings fall to 17/21/18 mpg city/highway/combined.

2013 Toyota 4Runner Interior

Simplicity is the name of the game inside the 2013 Toyota 4Runner. Large control buttons on the dash make it easy to adjust the climate or the audio system even when wearing bulky gloves. The front seats are power-adjustable, so you can get into position quickly for a comfortable ride. The second-row seats are split 40/20/40, and fold down easily to maximize cargo space to a total of 90 cubic feet (47 with the seats up). The 4Runner also comes with an optional third row which, while cramped for adults, is perfect for smaller children.

2013 Toyota 4Runner Safety

Standard safety features in every 2013 Toyota 4Runner include front knee airbags, side curtain airbags, active front head restraints, and antilock disc brakes. The government awarded the 4Runner four out of a possible five stars for its performance in crash tests, while the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety dubbed it a 2013 Top Safety Pick thanks to its receiving the highest possible rating of “Good” in all four safety tests.
