2014 Challenger R/T Shaker

The air-induction scoop hoods of 1960s-era muscle cars are making a comeback with new options for next year’s Dodge Challenger. Thanks to Chrysler’s Mopar aftermarket parts divisions, Dodge Challenger enthusiasts will now be able to buy a “shaker” edition of the vehicle.  But the 2014 Dodge Challenger R/T Shaker is more than just an aesthetic callback; it’s a muscle car worthy of both modern tastes and future legend.

“The legendary ‘shaker’ performance hood is back…making the new 2014 Dodge Challenger R/T Shaker the real deal,” said Tim Kuniskis, CEO of the Dodge Brand. “With Challenger having its best sales-year ever, the time is right to provide our most loyal fans with the return of the shaker.”

Showcasing the car’s 5.7-liter V8 Hemi engine, the old-school look will meet modern day safety regulations without compromising the style of the past. Called the shaker hood because, in the past, the scoop allowed you to see the engine vibrating, the Challenger R/T Shaker was introduced at the 2013 SEMA show alongside a 1970 Challenger, allowing car enthusiasts to compare the two models.

Dealerships will begin seeing the new 2014 Challenger R/T Shaker early next year with a price tag of $36,995, only $2,500 more than the Challenger R/T Classic.

So let’s hear it, Mopar fans: how excited are you for this modern-day throwback?
