What’s New for the 2014 Dodge Challenger

There are only a few minor changes in equipment adjustments for the 2014 Dodge Challenger.

2014 Dodge Challenger Exterior

At first glance, the 2014 Dodge Challenger seems to transport you back to an era where big engines were just as important as big hair and fuel economy didn’t matter. As you get closer though, the Challenger’s modern side shows a bit with its sculpted edges and smooth lines creating an aerodynamic body that just wasn’t seen in the pony cars of old.

2014 Dodge Challenger Performance

For the base SXT model, a 3.6-liter V6 that churns out a healthy 305 horsepower and 268 lb-ft of torque is standard, along with rear-wheel drive, which is the drive system of all 2014 Challengers, and a five-speed automatic. A 5.7-liter V8 that produces 376 hp and 410 lb-ft of torque powers the Challenger R/T with a six-speed standard manual, though it is also available with the five-speed automatic.
The Challenger SRT8 gives you the most power with a 6.4-liter V8 that produces 470 hp and 470 lb-ft of torque. A six-speed manual is the main transmission, though a five-speed automatic is also option.

2014 Dodge Challenger Efficiency

For the base V6, EPA-estimated fuel economy is rated at 21 mpg combined, while the 5.7-liter V8 is rated at 19 combined for the automatic and 18 for the manual. The largest power gets the lowest fuel economy with the 6.4-liter coming in at 17 mpg combined.

2014 Dodge Challenger Interior

While the interior isn’t as stylish as the exterior, the 2014 Challenger still has a bit of swagger not normally found in a car’s cabin. Sharp, modern lines create a simplistic design, while the gauges add a bit of sporty flair to the interior. A touchscreen keeps the driver connected at all times, while the front seats are comfortable with plenty of room. There’s even plenty of room in the back for two adults, while a 60/40 split-folding backseat lends for a decent amount of cargo space.

2014 Dodge Challenger Safety

According to government crash testing, the Challenger is a top contender with the highest five-star rating for overall crashworthiness. Standard safety features include antilock disc brakes, stability and traction control, active front head restraints, front side airbags and side curtain airbags. The 2014 Challenger also has optional rear parking sensors.
