2014 Fiat 500L Recall Alert: 19,500 Models Affected
Last week, Chrysler Group issued a 2014 Fiat 500L recall that affects 19,500 cars. According to the automaker, 20 percent of the affected vehicles are already in dealer hands.
After reports that some of the 2014 Fiat 500Ls with dual dry clutch automatic transmissions wouldn’t shift from park, or even that the transmissions were slow to receive—or didn’t at all receive—the intended gear selection, Chrysler Group launched an investigation. This investigation determined that extreme temperatures could compromise the function of one microcontroller component.
A simple software update will fix the issue, although Chrysler Group estimates that 200 vehicles may also require shift-module replacement. Chrysler Group will be taking care of all expenses for affected customers.
Chrysler Group will contact affected customers. More than 18,000 of those affected are American drivers; approximately 1,400 are Canadian drivers. Drivers who are still concerned may dial 1-800-853-1403 for more information.
