General Motors today made a bold implication: that the 2015 Buick LaCrosse is the best car for road trips, hands down. And the automaker sure had a lot of facts to back up the claim.

According to Expedia, only 22 percent of Americans are still relying on actual printed maps on road trips. The rest of the country instead turns to newer technology for all their road trip needs—directions, entertainment, recommendations for hotels and restaurants, and more. Buick’s latest LaCrosse is capable of delivering all that necessary technology while you’re on the go.

That’s because, much like most other 2015 GM models, the 2015 Buick LaCrosse will come standard with OnStar 4G LTE, providing passengers with the latest in connectivity. In fact, the technology allows for up to seven devices to by synced at one time, including phones, tablets, laptops, and game systems, using a built-in Wi-Fi hotspot that boasts a 30-feet radius (so yes, you can stay connected even from inside the stall at a rest stop, if you play your cards right).

OnStar’s 4G LTE makes traveling easy.

“Technology really has changed the way we travel today,” said David Lorenz, marketing manager, Pure Michigan. “Travelers are looking for easy access to information and they don’t necessarily just want that in advance of travel. Applications like OnStar and other technologies allow people to make quick, last-minute changes to their itinerary.”

And while many with smartphones often rely on data, that’s no good when roaming. Plus, according to Strategy Analytics, an astonishing 74 percent of tablets sold this year will be Wi-Fi only, meaning that the LaCrosse’s 4G LTE will be vital to those who need to stay connected on the go (like those workaholics who just have to send “one last email” before enjoying the beach). Even more surprising is that 91 percent of all tablets used in North America will be used as Wi-Fi only, even if they are enabled for data use.

“Road trips today are greatly changed from the ones we took with our families 20, 10 or even five years ago,” said John McFarland, director, Global Connected Customer. “Navigation alone makes choosing stops much easier, and now with built-in connectivity, travelers have an abundance of information and entertainment at their fingertips.”

But that’s not the only reason that the LaCrosse is the best car for road trips, according to GM. The Buick LaCrosse also offers a higher level of comfort, boasting dual-zone automatic climate controls and plenty of legroom for both from and rear passengers. On top of that, the LaCrosse is geared for safety with eight standard airbags and the following available safety features:

GM makes a strong case for the 2015 LaCrosse being the best car for road trips—at least as far as sedans are concerned. Larger families may benefit from a crossover or—gasp—the dreaded minivan, but as far as the typical nuclear family goes, I think that the 2015 Buick LaCrosse does a pretty bang up job. Do you agree?
