The 2015 Ford Expedition has earned the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration’s highest honor, garnering a five-star Overall Vehicle Score in the New Car Assessment Program thanks to a bounty of active and passive safety features.
“The 2015 Expedition now has driver-assist technology features that are new to the nameplate,” said Steve Kenner, director, Ford Global Automotive Safety Office. “These technology upgrades make Expedition the full-size utility vehicle for customers who want capability, style and modern conveniences.”
Ford has made both a rearview camera and rear parking sensors standard for the 2015 model year, complimenting standard AdvanceTrac® with Roll Stability Control™, Safety Canopy® side-curtain airbags, SOS Post-Crash Alert System, tire pressure monitoring system, and traction control. Also new for the 2015 Ford Expedition is available Blind Spot Information System with cross-traffic alert.
The 2015 Expedition earned a five-star Overall Vehicle Score in both the 4×4 and 4×2 configurations, but it is worth noting that the 4×4 (four stars) scored a full star better in the rollover test than the 4×2 (three stars). Reason being? The 4×2 model is at a 21.2% risk for rollover, whereas the 4×4 is a 19.8% risk. Neither vehicle was tipped in rollover testing.
The five-star Overall Vehicle Score also extends to both the 4×2 and 4×4 versions of the 2015 Ford Expedition EL.
