What’s New for the 2015 GMC Yukon XL

The Yukon XL has been redesigned for the 2015 model year. The Yukon XL’s exterior and interior have been updated, fuel economy has been improved, and a new fold-flat third row has been introduced.

The GMC Yukon XL blends rugged truck construction with a powerful V8 and amenities that you might expect to find in a luxury SUV. The refreshed exterior has a bolder face, aggressively sculpted sides, and an attractive front fascia. Call us crazy, but the new Yukon XL’s appearance even borders on aerodynamic.

Boasting standard 18-inch alloy wheels, foglights, keyless entry, front and rear parking sensors, heated power-adjustable manual-folding mirrors, running boards, and automatic wipers, the Yukon XL is both muscular and practical.

2015 GMC Yukon XL Performance

The 2015 GMC Yukon XL comes with two engine options. The SLE and SLT models come with a 5.3-liter V8 engine that generates 355 hp and 383 lb-ft of torque. The top-of-the-line Denali comes with a powerful 6.2-liter V8 engine that generates 420 hp and 460 lb-ft of torque.

When properly equipped, the maximum tow rating for the 2WD Yukon XL is 8,300 pounds, and 8,000 pounds for the 4WD model.

2015 GMC Yukon XL Efficiency

The standard 5.3-liter V8 engine returns an EPA-estimated fuel economy of 16 mpg city, 23 mpg highway, and 18 mpg combined for 2WD models. The 4WD models get 15 mpg city, 22 mpg highway, and 18 mpg combined fuel economy. The Yukon XL Denali which features the larger 6.2-liter V8, gets either 17 mpg combined with the 2WD or 16 mpg combined with the 4WD.

The Yukon XL has seen notable interior updates, including higher-quality materials, modern technology, comfortable seats, and attractive design. The new infotainment systems comes with a standard 4.2-inch display or an optional upgraded eight-inch display. Both displays are intuitive, easy to navigate, and feature appealing icons and images.

The Yukon XL also introduces the third-row fold-flat seat, which is a welcome update. Previously, users were required to remove the entire third row to gain additional cargo space. Now, with just the touch of a button, users are able to fold the seats flat into the car’s floor.

With plenty of space to comfortably accommodate up to nine passengers (if buyers choose the front bench seat), and 121.1 cubic feet of cargo space with the second and third rows folded flat, there is very little that the Yukon XL won’t be able to transport.

2015 GMC Yukon XL Safety

The 2015 GMC Yukon XL comes standard with antilock disc brakes, traction and stability control with trailer sway control, front-seat side airbags, full-length side curtain airbags, an airbag located between the front bucket seats, OnStar, front and rear parking sensors, and a rearview camera.

Depending on trim level, other high-tech safety features include forward collision alert, lane-departure warning, a vibrating safety alert seat, rear cross-traffic alert, blind-spot monitoring and frontal crash mitigation with automatic braking. The 2015 Yukon XL stays on alert, even in the moments you don’t.
