That gust of wind you feel is not a sexy sax man getting ready to explode through your wall. It's the feel of the 2015 Mercedes-Benz S63 AMG Coupe rushing by.

The 2015 Mercedes-Benz S63 AMG Coupe was revealed at NYIAS with the help of ‘Mad Men’ star Jon Hamm.

If there’s anything that the proliferation of excitement surrounding auto show reveals has taught us, it’s that automakers feel like they have to go big. Granted, it’s hard to say if anything from the New York International Auto Show quite reached the level of absurdity displayed by Chevy in Beijing (they even got Samus from Metroid to pop by for a tick), but there is one distinct advantage that Mercedes had in introducing the 2015 Mercedes-Benz S63 AMG Coupe. No, not the fact that it is an incredibly sexy machine that has enough horsepower to make your brain explode (though it most certainly is). We’re talking, of course about Jon Hamm.

Don Draper himself joined Mercedes-Benz President and CEO Stephen Cannon on stage for the reveal, proving to be the only thing in the Jacob Javits Convention Center to rival the 2015 Mercedes-Benz S63 AMG Coupe in pound-for-pound sexiness (go check out his SNL Digital Short “The Curse” if you don’t believe us). Hamm has served as the voice of Mercedes’ commercials since 2010.

Jon Hamm still believes.

While the debate as to which is sexier between Hamm and the 2015 Mercedes-Benz S63 AMG Coupe, we know each have more than enough credentials to stake their claim as the hottest thing at NYIAS. The S63 AMG will be powered by a hand-built 5.5-liter V8 biturbo engine that puts down 577 horsepower and 664 lb-ft of torque, climbs from 0-60 mph in less than 4 seconds, and has an electronically-limited top speed of 186 mph.

The V8 biturbo will be mated to an AMG SPEEDSHIFT MCT seven-speed transmission that offers three diverse driving modes—“C” (Controlled Efficiency), “S” (Sport), and “M” (Manual)—and an ECO start/stop function.

The S63 AMG will also come standard with 4MATIC all-wheel drive, which distributes 33 percent of torque to the front axle and 67 to the rear and greatly improves driving enjoyment.

Additionally, the interior of the S63 AMG utilizes a wrap-around design that blends the instrument panels into the doors. AMG sport seats will ensure that Mercedes drivers will enjoy complete comfort thanks to power adjustment, memory function, and seat heating and ventilation. The S63 AMG will also offer an intuitive touchpad infotainment display as standard equipment

“The new S63 AMG Coupe is another exciting AMG dream car in the luxury segment,” said Tobias Moers, Chairman of the Board of Management, Mercedes-AMG GmbH. “Now the S-Class Coupe also comes with performance-oriented AMG 4MATIC all-wheel drive – as we rigorously pursue our all-wheel-drive initiative. Mercedes-AMG is putting the pedal to the metal again in the new year. Our model initiative is set to continue at blistering pace in 2014.”

The 2015 Mercedes-Benz S63 AMG Coupe is expected to be released sometime this fall. For more information, including price and packages, as well as for our latest excuse to work Jon Hamm into a blog post, check back in with us at The News Wheel.
