What’s New for the 2015 Toyota Camry?
From its sculpted exterior styling to its technology, the 2015 Toyota Camry gets a serious refresh that takes the popular sedan from so-so to sensational. Additionally, the 2015 Camry receives a brand-new trim level—the XSE—which takes the sporty SE model and gives it bigger wheels, a firmer suspension, and multiple feature upgrades.
2015 Toyota Camry Exterior
The 2015 Toyota Camry doesn’t mark the start of a new generation, but with the number of changes the automaker has thrown at the sedan, it’s pretty darn close to all-new. The only body part the 2015 Camry has in common with its predecessor is its roof panel—everything else is completely new. While the overall essence of the car hasn’t changed—it’s still unmistakably a Camry—the entire feel of the vehicle is somehow more luxurious.
The Camry’s body gains an additional two inches, with the wheels spaced an extra half-inch apart. The grille, however, remains the most dramatic change, as Toyota borrows design elements from its upscale Lexus brand and injects them into the new Camry’s trapezoidal grille shape.
2015 Toyota Camry Performance
While the 2015 Toyota Camry’s body has received a major redesign, the parts hidden under the hood remain unchanged for 2015. A standard 268-horsepower 3.5-liter V6 powers all four trim levels, and sends power to the front wheels via a six-speed automatic transmission. Upgrading to the optional 3.5-liter V6 increases the Camry’s power to an impressive 268 horsepower and 248 lb-ft of torque. No manual transmission is available, but if you choose the SE trim, you’ll get paddle shifters which will allow you to better control the car’s shifting, similar to driving a manual.
Safety First: Safety Technology Coming to All Toyota Vehicles
2015 Toyota Camry Efficiency
The 2015 Toyota Camry remains competitive with fuel efficiency ratings of 25 mpg city, 35 mpg highway, and 28 mpg combined. If you decide to go with the larger and more powerful engine, those ratings will drop to 21 mpg city, 31 mpg highway, and 25 mpg combined—not as impressive as the 2.5-liter’s fuel efficiency, but still not bad considering the amount of additional power you get from that bigger engine.
2015 Toyota Camry Interior
In keeping with its premium exterior looks, the interior of the 2015 Toyota Camry has also received some high-end touches to make it more appealing to drivers from all walks of life. High-quality materials adorn the Camry’s dash, seats, and panels; while a new center stack makes for a more organized vehicle.
One of the most impressive new features on the 2015 Toyota Camry is a wireless charging station for certain smartphones. This allows the driver to recharge his or her phone by placing it in the bin next to the shifter, eliminating the need for messy wires and helping keep the interior looking neater.
2015 Toyota Camry Safety
Every Camry model is equipped with 10 standard airbags, including front seat-mounted side airbags, driver and front passenger knee airbags, and front and rear side curtain airbags. In addition, the 2015 Camry receives plethora of new safety options, such as lane departure warning, adaptive cruise control, pre-collision alerts, automatic headlights, and a cross-traffic alert system.
