Technological advancements in the 2016 Chevy Silverado look to accomplish what man has set out to do since the pre-fire days of darkness: make difficult circumstances less difficult.
New technologies for the 2016 model add to already helpful features like integrated cruise control, powertrain grade braking, and control-enhancing diesel exhaust braking.
Now Digital Steering Assist power steering, new for 2016, enhances the pickup’s road holding and stability on the highway as an available feature on some double cab and crew cab models.
Additionally, a new Trailering Prep Package helps Silverado HD models tow better than ever before through a gooseneck ball hitch or fifth wheel hitch mounting system. Chevrolet promises Silverado HD models will be “ready to tow larger trailers right from the factory.” Perhaps they expect you to tow a trailer of brand new Silverado HD models, which in turn are towing more trailers of Silverado HD models, which are all towing morel Silverado HDs, and so on and so forth…
Other new features for 2016 include available wireless phone charging, remote locking tailgate, and three new exterior paint options: Siren Red Tintcoat (double cab only), Red Hot, and Butte Red Metallic (crew cab only).
If these new tech tweaks and features are as effective as intended, perhaps by next year the dumb people in Chevy’s commercials will wise up and realize that the best trucks available for towing are, in fact, Chevys.
