On September 16th, the redesigned 2016 Honda Civic Sedan is set to debut in Detroit… and Los Angeles.
According to Automotive News, the new Civic will premiere at simultaneous events on both sides of the country next month.
Although powertrain details are expected to remain under wraps, we will finally get to see the new exterior and interior design of the 10th-generation Civic sedan… which is the good news.
The bad news, it seems, is that only the sedan will be unveiled, meaning we’ll have to wait a bit longer to see the Civic coupe, hatchback, Si, and most tantalizingly, the Type R.
The 2016 Honda Civic production model is expected to look quite similar to the concept that the Japanese automaker showed off last April in New York. And although we don’t have any exact performance figures, it is known that the new Civics launching this fall will feature a 1.5-liter VTEC turbo engine (a first for US market Civics) mated to a six-speed, short-throw manual transmission or an automatic CVT.
The 2016 Civics will also boast a longer wheelbase and a lower, wider, more aggressive stance than their outgoing 2015 counterparts.
Honda has also been seen testing more premium features on the new Civic, including LED exterior lights, LaneWatch and other Honda Sensing safety features, and heated front and rear leather seats. A touchscreen infotainment system that’s compatible with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto is also anticipated.
