2017 Honda Civic Hatchback

Today the all-new 2017 Honda Civic Hatchback arrives at dealerships across the US, carrying a starting manufacturer’s suggested retail price of $19,700 for the base LX model with 6-speed manual transmission (price excludes taxes, fees, and $835 destination charge).

The manual Civic LX yields 30 mpg in city driving, 39 mpg on the highway, and 33 mpg combined. An extra $800 will buy a continuously variable transmission (CVT) for the LX, which improves its fuel economy slash line to 31/40/34 mpg in city/highway/combined traffic.

The Civic Sport trim is also available with a manual transmission (for $21,300) or CVT ($22,300). The manual Civic Sport has the same mileage figures as the manual LX, but the Sport with CVT is less efficient than its LX counterpart, managing 30/36/32 mpg.

The $22,800 Civic EX is offered exclusively with a CVT, as is the $25,300 EX-L Navi trim.

Pricing has not yet been released for the new, top-of-the-line Sport Touring trim, which is equipped with a CVT and produces 30/36/32 mpg ratings.

All models come equipped with a 1.5-liter DOHC direct-injected and turbocharged in-line 4-cylinder engine. The powertrain has peak outputs of 174 horsepower in LX, EX, and EX-L Navi trims, and 180 horsepower in the Sport and Sport Touring trims, which run on premium unleaded and feature a dual-outlet center-mounted exhaust.

The Civic Hatchback is built on the same platform as the previously released Civic Sedan and Coupe models. The 5-door will also serve as the template for the forthcoming Honda Civic Type R, which will be the brand’s first global Type R, and which will be revealed later this month.
